How do I determine what specific version of xIDE for EM250 I need / have installed?

Categories:   Software : Embedded

Because xIDE for EM250 is a development toolchain consisting of compiler, linker, assembler, deadstripper, and other components, each with their own version. It can sometimes be difficult to assess exactly which version number should be consulted in determining what installation of xIDE is present or running on your machine.

Here are some guidelines for obtaining the top-level version for the xIDE for EM250 package:

The version number (and build) for the xIDE for EM250 package is always available in Windows Control Panel >> Add/Remove Program >> xIDE for EM250, in the "click here for support info¯ link". This and additional details are also available in xIDE's "Help"¯ pane (Help >> Home will open this if you've closed it), by clicking on the Release Notes¯ link.

xIDE for EM250 versions 1.5 and higher also indicate the package version in the title bar of the application.

Also, all EmberZNet releases contain Release Notes that have a section (usually 1.1) called "Software Versions"¯ that describes which xIDE for EM250 package goes with which stack release.

Using these guidelines, you should be able to assess the proper version number, which is important in making sure that the proper xIDE installation is being used with the corresponding stack build, as the stack and toolchain generally have tight interdependencies.

As of this writing, the xIDE for EM250 version dependencies with EmberZNet are as follows:

EmberZNet stack version Recommended xIDE for EM250 package version
2.5.0 – 2.5.1 1.3b4
other 2.5.x releases 1.4b2
