Winter coffee tends to be heavy. Chocolate, spice, caramel — all wonderful, but after a few months you start craving something different. The Lavender Honey Latte is that shift. It is bright, floral, and naturally sweet — the kind of drink that opens a window even when it is still cold outside.
Think of it as your coffee routine's change of season.
Why Lavender and Honey?
Lavender is aromatic without being overpowering. A small amount transforms an ordinary latte into something that smells as good as it tastes. Honey is its natural partner — lighter and more nuanced than sugar, with a clean sweetness that lets the floral notes come through rather than burying them. The espresso grounds it all so the drink still feels like coffee, not a candle.
Drinking Temperature
Serve at 135°F (57°C)
Ingredients
- 2 shots espresso
- 1 cup milk of choice
-
1 tablespoon of honey
-
¼ teaspoon culinary lavender (dried) or 1–2 drops food-grade lavender extract
- Optional: dried lavender buds for garnish
Directions
-
Brew espresso using your preferred method, such as a moka pot, home espresso machine, or strong pour-over. Here are tips for brewing with an espresso machine or Moka Pot.
-
While the espresso is hot, stir in the honey until fully dissolved.
-
If using dried lavender: heat milk in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Add the dried lavender and let it steep for 3–4 minutes as the milk warms. Strain out the lavender before pouring. If using lavender extract: simply warm the milk and add 1–2 drops.
- Set your Ember Mug to 135°F or your preferred temperature in the app. Pour in the honey espresso, add the warm lavender milk, and gently stir. Garnish with a few dried lavender buds if desired.
Why it works in Ember
Floral flavors are the first to disappear as a drink cools or sits too long. At 135°F the lavender stays lifted and fragrant while the honey keeps its smooth, clean sweetness. TheEmber Mug holds that window so you are not racing to finish the cup before the best part fades.
Variations
-
Vanilla Lavender: Add a splash of vanilla extract for a slightly warmer, rounder finish.
-
Iced Lavender Latte: Steep the lavender in warm milk, chill it, then pour over ice with espresso and honey in your Ember Cold Tumbler.
-
Oat Milk Lavender: Oat milk's natural sweetness pairs especially well here and froths into a light, creamy foam.
The Last Drop
The Lavender Honey Latte is not trying to be rich or decadent. It is trying to be fresh. After months of heavy winter drinks, sometimes what you really want is something lighter, brighter, and a little unexpected. This is that drink.
