Recipe: Lemon Ginger Detox Tea

Lemon Ginger Detox Tea

January 05, 2021

If the Christmas cookies and the New Year’s Eve champagne left you feeling a little sluggish, we’ve got just the thing to help you bounce back. This lemon, ginger, & cinnamon detox tea is loaded with vitamin C, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory properties, so you can start 2021 feeling like your best self. Thanks to the warming flavors of cinnamon and ginger, this detox tea tastes like a healthy habit you can stick with all year round.

Detox Tea Benefits

Our detox tea recipe uses simple, natural ingredients with well-known health benefits to get you back to feeling your best after the holiday binge.

  • Lemons are full of antioxidants and vitamin C, and the acid can help kickstart your digestive system – so you can kick the post-vacation bloat.
  • Cinnamon can help improve blood sugar levels (something we could all use after the holidays!) and has anti-inflammatory effects.
  • Ginger and turmeric are powerful anti-inflammatories, too, and ginger’s digestive benefits can help any time of year... but especially after a few too many holiday indulgences.
  • An optional shot of apple cider vinegar can boost the digestive benefits even more.

For some added zen, try to slow down and enjoy the ritual of slicing your ingredients and brewing your detox tea each morning. Calming daily rituals like this can improve your sense of wellbeing and are a great way to work on that mindfulness resolution!

Served at 140°F (60°C)

Ingredients

Makes 2 servings

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 cinnamon stick or 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ inch ginger root, thinly sliced
  • ¼ inch turmeric root, thinly sliced or ¼ tsp ground turmeric (optional)
  • Pinch of black pepper (optional, but we recommend trying it as it improves absorption of curcumin in the turmeric)
  • 1 tsp honey (to taste)
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar (optional)
