Your Ember Mug is designed to keep your drink at the perfect temperature, every sip, every day. To ensure long-lasting performance and effortless daily use, proper care and cleaning are essential. Here’s how to look after your Ember Mug so it stays in great condition and continues to deliver warm moments.
1. Daily Cleaning: Keeping it Simple and Effective
After each use, start with a gentle clean:
-
Rinse your mug immediately with warm water to remove loose residue.
-
Wash gentlyusing warm, soapy water and a soft sponge to wash the inside and outside of the mug.
-
Tackle stainusinga paste of baking soda and water, a melamine sponge, or white vinegar.
-
Dry completely. This is crucial! Dry the inside, outside, and especially the golden charging rings on the bottom with a soft cloth, then let it air dry fully before charging.
Avoid abrasive scrubbers or harsh cleansers, which can damage the exterior finish.
Once you’ve washed it, dry the mug completely before placing it back on the charger. Moisture left on the base or charging area can affect charging performance.
2. Deep Cleaning: Tackling stains and hard to clean build up
For occasional deeper cleaning (for example, after coffee oils build up):
-
Create a solution of warm water and mild dish soap.
-
Pour the solution into your mug and let that soak briefly.
-
Gently scrub with a soft brush or sponge. We recommend our Bottle Brush for this step.
-
Rinse thoroughly with clean warm water.
Do not immerse the entire mug in water. The heating element and electronics are not designed for longterm submersion. Only the mug’s interior and exterior surfaces should be cleaned.
3. What to Avoid
Long-term performance also depends on what you don’t do:
-
Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads. These can scratch and dull the mug’s surface and lead to chipping in the ceramic coating of your mug.
-
Do not place the mug in a dishwasher. The dishwasher environment can compromise the internal electronics and sealing. Ember Support
-
Avoid submerging the mug in water. Excess water can penetrate sensitive components.
- Do not use metal spoons that can scratch the bottom of your mug while stirring. We suggest wood or rubber spoons.
4. Charging and Storage Tips
To preserve battery health and ensure your Ember Mug is always ready:
-
Always dry the mug thoroughly before placing it on the charging coaster.
-
Store the mug in a cool, dry place when not in use.
5. Consistency is Key
With regular care your Ember Mug will continue to feel and function like new. A clean mug not only looks better but also helps maintain accurate temperature control and a delightful drinking experience.
